Worship is taking the time to honor the Lord God.  The principal Old
Testament word for worship basically means to “bow down.”  It is from here
that we “bow” our heads when we pray and lift our spirits as we reverence
Him.

Today we worship in many ways and in many different places.  I have
stood at the very edge of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado
and felt small in the presence of God’s own handiwork.  I’ve stood in a
majestic cathedral built by hands and felt small in His presence in this
place set aside for that very purpose.  I have stood in the presence of a
great throng of people with my arms upraised and singing praises to Him
and marveled that He could hear my voice and knew the intent of my heart
at that very moment.  All of this is worship.

Cowboys have the need to pause and “bow down” in reverence to Him
Who is in all and is all.  Perhaps it is today’s cowboy, play acting in the
past, and enjoying the company of others of the same mind who has a
greater reason to humble his spirit in a quiet moment.  He is blessed to
play in a game he loves with good folks who share the same grace.

We may conduct Cowboy Church at these Cowboy Action Shooting
matches, but in these moments, we are leading in worship.
